5. Moshe Katsav Rape Scandal

Usually, when an elected leader is said to have raped their people, it is a metaphor for abusive treatment. In this case, it was literal. Moshe Katsav was an Iranian born Israeli politician and Israel’s 8th Prime Minister. He is now serving a prison sentence for rape. In 2006 Katsav reported he was being blackmailed by a female employee. Soon, the allegation flipped, as the woman, known only as ‘A’, alleged Katsav had raped her on two occasions. Soon Katsav was accused of raping or sexually harassing up to 10 women. In 2011 he was convicted of rape, indecent acts, sexual harassment and obstruction of justice, and sentenced to 7 years in prison and 2 years of probation.
