10 Tips for Achieving Happiness I wish I had Learned Sooner
5. Confidence is not arrogance
There is a contradiction in modern society where we claim to value confidence yet tend to look down at people who have it. Confidence is not arrogance. Arrogance is an attitude that says: I am better than everyone else because I am me, and I am awesome. Confidence is rooted in ability. There is nothing wrong with being confident, in fact it is a must for your own personal happiness. Are you good at your job? A good musician? Are you a computer whiz? Do you look awesome in tights? Good! Own it! I’m not saying to brag or be an ass, I am saying there is nothing wrong with being confident and proud of your abilities and positive traits. Don’t let the insecurities and jealousies of others make you mask your pride with humility. Be confident in yourself, your abilities, and your actions. Many will scoff, but others will notice; other positive, confident people, will gravitate to you. People will be more attracted to you, both personally and physically. Being confident also means focusing on your strengths, not your shortcomings. It doesn’t mean you should ignore your shortcomings, it means you focus on what you are proud of yourself for and not tearing yourself apart all day.
