100 Entrepreneurs Who Changed The World
27. Perot, Ross 1930-
“Most people give up just when they’re about to achieve success. They quit on the one yard line. They give up at the last minute of the game one foot from a winning touchdown.”
Ross Perot is an American businessman and entrepreneur who revolutionized data-processing for large companies. Of course, he is most famously known for his oft mocked, though sometimes thoughtful presidential campaigns and an independent candidate in 1992 and 1996. Prior to that, however, Perot had made millions with his company Electronic Data Systems. Perot believed big corporations would benefit by getting help with their data-processing. Then in the 1960’s his company was awarded two huge contracts with Medicare and Medicaid. Perot was then on one of the wealthiest Americans.
