62. Rupert Murdoch(1931- )
“Money is not the motivating force. It’s nice to have money, but I don’t live high. What I enjoy is running the business.”
Rupert Murdoch is an Australian American business magnate, media kingpin, and, it seems, professional controversy maker. Murdoch is the founder, chairman, and CEO of the global media holding company News Corporation, and of its successors News Corp and 21st Century FOX. News Corp is the second largest media conglomerate in the world. Murdoch began his media empire in 1952, when he inherited his father’s company Australia’s News Limited. Murdoch has led News Corp and FOX to amazing heights, and in doing so he has become of popular political target on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean. In 2011 a scandal emerged that led Murdoch to resign as Director of News International due to allegations that Murdoch’s companies had hacked celebrities’ phones.
