Ted Turner is an American businessman, media mogul, and philanthropist. As CEO of Turner Broadcasting Systems, Turner transformed to world of news media when he founded the Cable News Network, of CNN. He also founded WTBS, the first cable station to pioneer the superstation concept. CNN’s constant news cycle revolutionized the industry, notably starting with the network’s unparalleled coverage of the spaceship Challenger disaster in 1986. Turner’s television empire also includes Turner Classic Movies and TNT. Turner purchased the Major League Baseball team the Atlanta Braves and turned the franchise into a winning team and popular brand before selling the team.
