100 Entrepreneurs Who Changed The World
79. Ferruccio Lamborghini
“I had never stopped thinking about the ideal motor car… All I had to do was construct a plant to build it.”
Ferruccio Lamborghini was an Italian industrialist who has forever left his marque on the automotive industry. The son of poor grape farmers, Lamborghini’s mechanical know-how led him to tractor repairs. Soon he had started Lamborghini Trattori, manufacturing tractors and farm equipment which filled a badly needed role in Italy’s post World War II economy. In 1963, he famously created Automobili Lamborghini. To this day the name Lamborghini means one thing: flashy, high-performance, luxurious sports cars. Lamborghini has made some of the finest cars ever built, a standard that became known of Italian automakers.
