Matt Groening is an American cartoonist, screenwriter, animator, author, television producer, musician, comedian, and voice actor. He is best known for co-founding two television hits The Simpsons and Futurama. Groening made cartoons for adults a cool thing, pushing the Simpsons with their crude humor and adult situations into the American consciousness and upsetting social conservatives. The Simpsons is the longest running television show in American history, currently in its 26th season. Homer, Bart, and the rest have become cultural icons featured in video games, on apparel, and on the big screen. Futurama has a very been cancelled three times but continues to command a loyal following.
