Just because one is planning to live and work overseas doesn’t mean that their credit score will not continue to either improve or get worse. Taking the time to make sure that all of one’s bills from back home are setup to be automatically paid or manually paid via online means will be a big step to continuing to preserve one’s credit worthiness. Additionally, if the prospective expat is debt-free, then take a hard look at using (and paying off) an existing credit card to pay for bills while overseas can also help sustain or even improve one’s overall credit while living as an expat.
