Prior to traveling to the country one plans to live and work in as an expat, taking some time to learn how to shop around prior to leaving will only help once established overseas. This trait is especially important for those leaving the United States. Most overseas countries simply do not have the bulk sales stores (or large refrigerators to support storing a large amount of food) that are common in the United States. Similarly, the best deals for purchasing food and other commodities may be spread around the town or village that one finds themselves living. By learning where the value deals are located, expats can save a significant amount of money which depending on the economic conditions of the country can be a big deal.
