10 Daily Activities to Break Out of the Long-term Unemployment Funk
10. Active hobbies
Hobbies that engage the mind and body together provide a great way for people to extricate themselves from negative head space while also keeping their minds and bodies sharp. Hobbies such as reading engage only the mind, which is great, and things like running engage the body. Both are great, but having something that engages both together and that is enjoyable can provide a fresh outlet that enables a person to experience “flow,” a state in which a person is entirely focused on a single activity. Sports, building things such as model planes, taking apart items to see how they work, and even playing cards are all hobbies that would qualify. Fortunately, these hobbies are usually cheap or free, and they can also provide great social outlets when shared with others.
