8. Wesley Clark
Clark is a retired U.S. Military Academy Army General and Supreme Allied Commander of NATO from 1997-2000, and a Democratic presidential candidate in 2004.
He graduated as valedictorian of the 1966 classat West Point and was awarded a Rhodes Scholarship to the University of Oxford, where he studied philosophy, politics and economics.
Later, he graduated from Command and General Staff College with a master’s degree in military science. He spent 34 years in the Army and the Department of Defense, receiving many military decorations, several honorary knighthoods, and a Presidential Medal of Freedom. He founded his current political action committee, WesPAC in April, 2004.
Clark has opposed taking military action against Iran and in January 2007 he criticized what he called “New York money people” pushing for a war. This led to accusations of anti-Semitism. Clark serves on the Advisory Boards of the Global Panel Foundation and the National Security Network. He is also chairman of Rodman & Renshaw, a New York investment bank, and Growth Energy.
