9. Extended Warranties

Nowadays when you purchase an item you are often asked if you want to purchase an extended warranty for the product. In most cases the product you are buying already comes with a one year manufacturer warranty. These extended warranties have a barrage of fine print that is full of exclusions. It is rare that repairs will be needed and consumer products depreciate greatly after purchase. Most often a product will break either right away while still covered under the manufacturer’s warranty or many years later after all warranties would have expired. Another reason these extended warranties are not worth the money is because credit card companies offer an extended warranty on any product you purchased using their card. Most times the warranty is one year.
