10 Reasons to Love the Free Market
10. The free market limits power
In a competitive market, no actor has the power to set prices, and thus no actor has power over any other. The system runs itself, no one fights, and no one tells anyone else what to do. Unlike the communist utopia where an all-powerful, all-knowing, and all-wise government plans, produces, and provides for the people what it thinks they need, the free market system actually works. Of course, we always have to keep looking for ways to make the market more economically efficient, and be on guard in order to prevent the enormous build-up of power in the hands of the corporate elite.
The free market along with a functioning democratic system and an active citizenry is the best shield against the government trying to hoard excessive power over the affairs of the state and the people’s lives and the surest way to prosperity for all people.
